What to do if you have a concern

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is everyone’s responsibility. Everyone who comes into contact with children, their families and carers have a role to play in safeguarding children.

If you have an urgent concern about a child and there is an immediate risk of harm, then contact the police on 999.

If your concern is less urgent but you are worried about the welfare of the child, then contact the Early Help and Safeguarding Hub (EHaSH) on 01482 448879 (weekdays 8:30am-5pm) or the Immediate Help Team on 01482 300304 (after 5pm and weekends). The police can be contacted on 101 in a non-emergency situation.

If you have concerns about a child at St Thomas More VC Academy, which you believe the school needs to be aware of, then contact Lynn Stansfield on 01482 354093 (weekdays 9am-5pm), or the Immediate Help Team on 01482 300304 (after 5pm).

Our Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy

The guidelines and procedures that we follow are detailed within our Child Protection Policy:

This supports statutory guidance for schools and colleges on safeguarding children and safer recruitment:

Operation Encompass

We are an Operation Encompass school.

Operation Encompass provides a set of of simple and effective procedures which together enable police forces to efficiently and effectively communicate with the schools attended by children who have been exposed to domestic abuse or other forms of adverse childhood experience.
